Japan Times Newspaper and the International Slalom Skateboard Championships 2025

It's been an amazing year and to get on the cover and sports section of the Japan Times was super cool. Thank you to By Mai Yoshikawa for writing the article and interviewing me on video. One day I hope to make it to Japan. Perfect timing to make the Japan Times sports page with Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto right after their World Series Win. I tell people all of the time. Doing give up and do what you love. I never imagined I would still be skateboard racing international at the age of 66. I placed 3rd in the Giant Slalom at the International Slalom race in Brazil. Leiola placed 1st overall. I will post that soon. I got sick coming back from all the travels and just starting going through my insta360 footage. Congrats to all of the racers.

Japanese American National Museum Live Feed Judi Oyama

Live feed tomorrow night. Scheduled for Apr 12, 2025 I am doing a 3 minute speech.

Dear Ms. Oyama,

It is with great pleasure that I write to let you know that the Japanese American National Museum would like to honor you with our Award of Excellence. This award is a tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their professional fields, and your contributions to the sport of slalom and downhill skateboarding are truly exceptional. The award will be presented at our annual Benefit evening on Saturday, April 12, 2024, at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles.

You have been a trailblazer in a traditionally male-dominated sport, breaking down barriers with your passion and fearless dedication. Not only were you one of the first women to compete professionally, but you also remain one of the few Asian-American skaters to achieve and maintain international championship titles. Your nearly fifty-year-long career is an inspiration to us all.

Saturday, April 12, 2025 In-Person: 5 p.m.—8 p.m. Live streamed on YouTube JW Marriott Los Angeles 900 West Olympic Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90015 Venu Details

Here are a few items I donated up for auction link.

Funds raised through the Benefit and the Online Auction will go directly towards supporting our mission and our education and outreach programs.

If you want to donate to help keep me racing.

USA Slalom Skateboarding is a 501c donate button select individual and then pick racer name. You can leave a note letting them know the funds are for me. Thank you!

Judi Oyama GS Slalom Run Texas Sizzler 2023

Squirrel ran across the bottom.

I don't always race the Giant Slalom but I have been at 63 years old who wants to go as fast as they possibly can? I guess I do for a bit longer. I placed 2nd in the Women's and 15th overall against all the men and women all ages. We each had 3 runs. I rode my Sk8kings Axe the first two runs I had 75mm the last run I put 2 bigger wheels on but my fastest race was my second run that Jonathan Harms captured here with the insta360 camera. It was our first and only run with it. I don't like to ask racers who are competing to video unless they offer. (I let this run all the way to the bottom of the hill so you can see the runoff. At night you get big bugs on the ground and I had one hit my chest at speed. With a tailwind you have to speed off into the parking lot area.) Epic place to race if you ever get a chance. This was the Texas Outlaws 18th year running the race.

Giant Slalom combined best of two runs overall results.
I placed 15th mid pack 31 races all ages
