Think Local First Santa Cruz Social Media Facebook Presentation

Big thank you for all those that showed up. That after all is half the game. I enjoyed doing this presentation at Bruno's BBQ last night at the Think Local First Santa Cruz roundtable in Scotts Valley for merchants and individuals. My goal was to break down in easy to follow steps how to set up a business Facebook page. I added links to social media sites that I read and get some great tips from. I added a few other mentions like nutshellmail to consolidate your social media and a few other additions. It was my first Facebook Social Media group presentation. My strong point is not public speaking. I usually do one on one meetings with individuals and business owners unless of course I get flown out to Bozeman Montana to Croakies which I have twice to talk to sales and marketing and continue to help with their social media and Facebook.

Tomorrow night is a Think Local First Santa Cruz Summer Mixer at Geo Wilsons 90 th anniversary. So my friends for all of you that have a small business and want to improve your reach and get new clients. Networking is key. Go it is free! and what you could have a fun time.

Beckmann's Old World Bakery Social Media and Website

Beckmann's Bakery has a new website. Maximum Impact Design designed a new graphic URL to match the existing graphics to the fleet of trucks and they are updating all of their printed collateral and packaging. Their Facebook Page Welcome, Shop and Farmers Market pages have been updated and link directly to each page. Please press the like button on their FB welcome tab. I still smile when I see the trucks and bread packaging. One of my favorite projects. Working on an ad, Facebook updates and added features to their Facebook page. They have a Flickr, YouTube and a Twitter page.

Updated Beckmann's Old World Bakery Twitter page. Added new website link, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube icons and filled background graphic.

Old graphic did not fill page.

Facebook Page Changes today!

Just when you think you've got the hang of it the game changes once again. Really yes really.

What changed with the new Pages design?

• Photos at the top: The most recent photos that you post to the Wall of a Page you admin, or photos you tag your Page in, will appear here. This area will not include any photos posted by people who like your Page.
• Use Facebook as your Page: You will be able to receive notifications for your Page, view a News Feed for your Page, and like and post on other Pages as your Page.
• Wall filters: Pages now have two publicly visible Wall filters-"Posts by Page" and "Everyone." When viewing a Page Wall with the "Everyone" filter, the most engaging posts will appear at the top (i.e., posts will not appear in chronological order). Page admins will be able to view additional filters-"Most Recent" and "Hidden Posts."
• Email notifications: You can opt to receive notifications when people post or comment on your Page.
• Featured Pages and admins: You can feature other Pages your Page likes, or admins of your Page, in the new "Likes" and "Page Owners" sections on the left side of your Page.
• Mutual connections: When people visit your Page, they will be able to view friends who also like your Page, as well as other Pages that both they and your Page like.
• Navigation: The content that you formerly accessed by clicking the tabs at the top of your Page can now be found in the column underneath your Page profile picture. The text in the box that used to appear in the box underneath your Page profile picture will now appear in the Info tab.
• Profile picture size: The profile picture size for Pages has been adjusted from 200x600 to 180x540.

Social Media and marketing

I work with clients that have small businesses and show them how they can use Social Media as a marketing tool and benefit. It's not about how much money you spend it is the right time and the right locations. Check the stats on this video.
Does your company have a Facebook, Twitter or Youtube account?

Wefollow Skateboarder

I like being number eight on wefollow in both most influential and most followers skateboarder. Along with skaters like PLG, OneFelix, Rob Dyrdek. Not done by following as many skateboarders as I can but by selecting the ones that really know the sport or have passion for it. And by sharing skateboard news and events that mean something to me. I embraced social media many years ago mainly as a way to communicate about skateboarding and design information with friends. For things like where were going to skate on Saturday morning to what design help information we could share.
Who'd of thought it would lead to working with clients on Twitter, Blogger and Facebook. Online marketing grew and grew. It's the new 411 for information. Used right it can get you work used wrong and no one cares. I'm oldschooler twitter.com/oldschooler.
