Opened Maximum Impact Design offices at the Old Sash Mill 1987 one of the first Action Sport Graphic design focused businesses. Back then my Apple IIsi (cost $4,500.00) it would take over 20 minutes to save. Beckman's Bread packaging design, save go dust or visit Steve at Stokes or the Annie Glass folks. Had my stats made at Thomas Burke and others. So many changes. Networking and meetings at Nextspace now, home office, life is good.

Team work pays off for the Design + Innovation Skateboard Show

We started this process in April. Via I sent Chris Yonge and email suggesting a skateboard version of the bike show. 6 months later we did it. These are photos Chris Yonge took leading up to the final opening and a page of opening night images. We had over 750 people the first night. Goes to show anything is possible. I told myself the week before we were doing the show not to try and do anything like this again. Well after all said and done I'm ready to help with the surf version of this show at the MAH March 2010 with Surfing in Santa Cruz.

Praise the Board Skateboard Show set up day 4 & 5

No pictures from last night's event yet. A full house of over 500 people came out and a 1,000 people total throughout the day. Who'd of thought so many people would be stoked on skateboarding. (I did) It was great to see so many of my old skate buds as well as many other design folks throughout NorCal. Thanks to all those that made it to the opening last night. I guess, I can check off curate a skate art show on my list of things to do in my lifetime.

Santa Cruz Design and Innovation interview

Thank you to the Santa Cruz Design and Innovation Center for asking me to be on the home page. Quite an honor with so many talented designers in Santa Cruz. I hope to encourage younger designers to follow their passion. Work hard and don't give up.

I've been creating action sports graphic design since before computer graphics. My dad was the one that told me in the mid 80's that the computer was the way to go and he helped me buy an Apple SI that at the time was around $4,500.00 with a 80 MB hard drive! Seriously. When I was working on the Beckmann's Bread packaging it would take 20 minutes to save.


I would read design magazines or dust my office while it saved. Needless to say my office was pretty spotless.



Never stop learning and don't try and coast. Stay in tune with design trends, colors, patterns, and do what you love. Stay on your path.

Think green, recycled, sustainability if it is affordable and aligns with your client it is a style direction that I feel is a win win. Do more than talk the talk. Walk the walk.
