A Skateboarder made the Box Magazine Community Spirit CrossFit Faces

Photo Jessica Wade

And it was me. I had posted on the CrossFit Blog after racing at Worlds the past few years each year seeing a huge improvement in my skating because of doing CrossFit. This year in Kentucky the morning of the first day of the World Championships I realized that I had brought two right skate shoes and my CrossFit shoes. Of course I knew where the closest CrossFit was if I had time and energy. All my skate gear is black. Imagine that. I looked at my shoes and thought really? And so it goes luckily the right show is my stopping shoe which matters to me most for foot braking. My front shoe not so important but it helped to have a flat shoe sole instead of a taller running shoe. CrossFit has helped my skateboarding to keep endurance. It has helped me in so many ways mentally.

I am passionate about it as much as I am about skateboarding.

Happy New Years 2016.

Be Badass Everyday! is my goal for 2016.

Big thank you for getting an article in The Box Magazine

US Nationals Slalom Skateboard Race 2015 go Aptos

Back from a great racing weekend. Got lucky that the Screaming Hand show was the same weekend.

A twofer.

Kevin called us on Saturday asking about the race we told him to come down. He flew in Saturday night we met up in San Clemente staying at my friends Condo. Went to Oceanside in the am and he killed it. John Ravitch, Kevin and I train together in San Jose. Great to get a plug in the today. Masters Slalom Skateboarding is a fast division.

2015 Gold Rush Giant Slalom Results and a few pic's

Back from a great weekend in Sacramento, staying at Shannon and Jamie Hart's house with Cliff Coleman. Jamie, Cliff and I have been skateboarding together for almost 40 years. We do it for the ourselves not for anything else. Being from NorCal we were not Skateboard Magazine material. Living North of the media is like living on another planet. We laugh we hug and we encourage each other to go fast and have fun. Our boards are high tech our bodies are not. Though I have to say since I have been doing Crossfit for almost 2 years and the past 6 months going 4 days a week I can say I am stronger than I have ever been in my whole life. It helps on the walks up the hill and turns going around the cones. My only regret was not going off the big ramp, otherwise no complaints. I may not be the best skater and never would claim to be. But I can say I have skated competitively longer that any woman skateboarder that I know of.

Thank you Cliff for the women's skateboard history lesson we will be talking more soon. I learned their are a few women never mentioned in the skate history that were from Norcal in the 60's. The SHOF folks only know the SoCal history they don't know about NorCal or other places all over the world that have been as passionate about skateboarding. As mentioned before just because you were never published in a Skateboard Magazine does not mean you are not dedicated to the life long passion and addiction of being a skateboarder.

Seismic World Cup July 16-18, 2010 in Colorado

Seismic World Cup July 16-18, 2010 in Colorado

We will take 56 paid registrations. Key word is paid. We are taking a limited number of racers so that we have time to run 4 races; Tight, Slalom, GS, and Downhill (4-man). Please register at https://www.regonline.com/seismicworldcup
Entry Fee is $125 for ISSA Members. Fee is $155 for non-members. If you are paying as a non-member, your extra entry fee pays your ISSA membership due for the season. Entry fee is for all four races or you can sign up for the Downhill-only for $25. There is no discount for skipping downhill, or any other event. Overall is based on slalom events only. King-of-the-hill will be based on all 4 events.

We will have 3 racers divisions;
Open (A & B brackets based on Qualifying),
Masters (45 and older),
Women
We might have a Juniors division if 8 or more 17-and-unders want to race in Jr's., otherwise they will be added to Open.

Schedule:
Friday eve - 6-9PM Tight Qualifiers

Saturday 8AM-12PM Tight Elims
Saturday 12PM-6PM Slalom Qual & Elim

Sunday 8AM-2PM Dual GS
Sunday 3PM Downhill

Prize Purse:
$4050 total prize purse
Tight payout $850
Slalom payout $850
GS payout $850
Masters Overall $500
Women Overall $500
Downhill payout $400

Racer hotel will be the La Quinta, 902 W. Dillon Rd. Louisville, CO. (Google Maps put this in the wrong place). Racer discount is based on 10 room booking.

Downhill will be a connection of Overlook, Butte, Horizon, and Panorama streets assuming we can get all the permissions needed to close these roads. If we can't get permissions we will run it on Overlook with some sculpting.

We intend to have large 9' start ramp(s) but we will keep you updated on this. We have 3' start ramps presently. We're hoping to have the budget to build these ramps but we wont know until June if we'll have them or not.

We're experimenting with "cones" that will reduce or eliminate counting, chasing, misplacing, etc. Details on these experiments will be posted as soon as we have settled on a format that is safe and effective. We'll be using a TrackMate timer.

Seismic Slalom Skateboard World Championships 2009

Great weekend of racing. John Ravitch placed 3 rd in the Giant Slalom Master Division, 5 th in the Hybrid and yesterday he made the podium once again with a second in the tight slalom. He got the third Overall Masters Title. Great job.

I had fun. Placed 4 th in the Hybrid on Saturday. Saturday evening, I made some truck and skate adjustments. That made a huge difference in my racing results for on Sundays race, thanks to John pointing out my truck washer was rubbing my truck axle. On a few runs my board was sticking on one side but I couldn't figure out what it was the day before. Thanks to Kevin Delaney showing me I had squishy soft bushings and should upgrade. You think I would since I am sponsored by Khiro Skateboard Products and had a good stash of goods thanks to Khiro Bob on hand. Thanks also too, Claude Regnier giving me some great body tips. And Gareth for the great board via John. Gary Holl thanks for the advice and coaching.

Richy and gang from Sk8kings for tons of support.

Thanks Lynn for the beer even tough I only took a sip and had a drink instead. You Rocked as usual.

Seismic World Championships in Hood River

Poster illustration by Jimbo Phillips rider is Steven King photo is by Farid A. Abraham on the Giant Slalom Hill Mosher Tunnel Road. Nice road 1/2 mile long race today with 90 cones. I'm passing on this race for the second year and focusing on the hybrid and tight slalom which is set for Saturday and Sunday. This year the Seismic World Slalom Skateboard Event is running the tight on Oak Street which is where they had the Gorge Games finals and it is newly paved.

Kevin at the US Nationals last weekend in Colorado where he took the overall in the Men's Open Division for the second year in a row.

Posters and t shirts will be sold at the event only and there are not very many being produced. Collectors item for sure.

My comment in the article about not new racers not as experienced as Kevin was since he raced snowboards and was a 2 time World Champion...

100 Cone Slalom Results Oregon Games 2009

Slalom Skateboarding TIGHT 100-CONE

Note to self do not tell your closest competitor and friend your kicking his ass cause he will turn around and kick yours! Lesson learned. Run two will get you if you fire up your competitor.

doh. Super fun weekend. There are mixed times the faster runs counted higher on the 6'5" 100 cone course over the 8' 80 cone distances.
