Handmade bags by Little O

A few of the handmade gifts that I have created over the past few days. Over the years I have consulted with many actions sports brands. I enjoy keeping in touch with colors, graphics, patterns and trends. Nothing like putting a few little creations together for family and friends kids. I designed a fashion diaper bag in 2001 that had a cellphone pocket, water bottle slot...before there were any cool bags. Designed skate shorts in the 70's for Steve Olson and Steve Caballero. Feels good to sew and design unique one off items.

I'd rather make a gift for someone if I have the time then buy one.

Some friends you move on from some you Don't

Reading when I can squeeze it in to help me better understand a few people that I love but can be prickly at times.

Life live to the fulliest

I got this from a friend and thought I'd share.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

But do share this with someone. We all need to live life to its fullest each day!!

Worry about nothing, pray about everything!!!

The Field in Aptos

Spent most of my childhood out here. Came across some photos my dad took of Carrie Cooper on Smokey and myself on my horse Rivers. My hard mouthed pain in the butte Appy that ran away with me half the time and gave me my permanent dimple. You can see there were not many trees like there is today. Never had any people living out there that is for sure. There were a few fires and they always seemed to start at that old house location.

Found friend on Myspace after 29 years!

I got a great email through myspace from a old friend from 1979 this morning! Her son had friended me and he showed her a pic of us skating on the Northshore that was in my photo album. We both skated back in the day and did a short stint with "Skateboardmania" the ice follies of skateboarding where I met Duane Peters and a few other notable skaters. We lived in Hollywood for 3 weeks in the Holiday Inn off Hollywood Blvd. 10 days in LA and a week on the Queen Mary so we could practice in the Long Beach Arena before hitting the road in the 7 bus 1.2 million dollar show. Long story short the head director was having an affair with the Lakers and LA forum arena and he shut us down. Went home waiting word of show start it never happened. Went to Hawaii for 5 weeks and ran into Kerry who was hanging out with her sister on the Northshore. Dano a professional surf/skate photographer from Santa Cruz was based on the Northshore for the winter surf wanted to do a photo shoot with us. We poached Rory Russell's ramp at Pipeline and then did some random hill runs with Dano sitting on the hood of the old rusted out car.

Great to see she is still living there and writing books. Very cool.

Madonna in does Oaktown

Great show last night even though three car accidents altered our plan. We had reso's for Kincaid's but hit some major traffic jams 13 miles from the event. A roll over and something in Fremont and something north just as the Raiders let out prior to our show. So we called canceled plan A and went for plan B. The BK lounge. Got to the show early had refreshments and food in the car. Great show. Tip to any of my friends that read this. Oracle events section 127 or 128 are great and the flip side as well. You will be in the bar section that is a premium seat area. Has it's own inner walk way and bars.

Madonna rocked as always. Laura and my third show together. My fourth. Would of been fifth if I had the courage to go alone in 1986 on her Virgin Tour. Went solo two shows ago.

Life is short. Go for it.

Peter Ramirez we will miss you ;(

Ramp start in Santa Cruz, September 7, 2008 50 cone course the view.

I never got to know Peter like most of his friends. The short time I did get to know him was very special. I met Peter, Nick and team at the Oregon Games in Salem this summer slalom racing on the Bush Soapbox Derby Track. It was the first time I met the Tactis Skateboard skaters that Dan brought up from Sacramento. It was great to see a new generation of skaters start slalom racing and have the stoke on downhill. Some of the best memories of my life were the first days of skating on the Santa Cruz Skateboard Team. It was great to see it come full circle with Dan taking these kids under his wing and taking them to some of the most beautiful locations to ride skateboards. The thrill of riding a new hill the smells, the wind in your face. Nothing better. You and the hill, You phase out the people around you, You forget the all your worries and focus only on the moment and the road ahead.

As a mom and a skater. Life is short and live life each day to the fullest. My parents let me shot downhill roads skate parks, go off with friends. I will forever thank them.

Peter raced in Hood River at the Gorge Games which was one of the best races to date, Fox TV cam over head downtown main street on fresh pavement, raced the Giant Slalom near the Columbia River that had some of the most amazing views and then two weeks later the US Nationals in Morro Bay with the ocean as the back drop. This summer was one of the best for competing and meeting new friends. I didn't even know how many countless downhill races the Tactis team may have gone to. I know they went to Maryville which I heard was a blast.

To his friends and family my thoughts are with you. I know that Peter had a great summer. His smile will never be forgotten.
