Horses before skateboards
I use to love to ride Lucky a 20 year old Albino with arthritis in her back legs, she loved to jump but not on cold mornings. Luckily for me this was an afternoon show at Kennolyn Riding School in Soquel back in 1971. Got in the jump offs in the finals since we had a clean run with two others but the younger horses passed me by. We could only get to around 4' 6" until we knocked the pole down. I wanted to see how high I could go since I'd never jumper higher than standing barrels before this. We got to standing plus 6 inches before we got eliminated. Diane Johnson won on her big Appy. She still rides and manages Chaminade events in Santa Cruz. Great memories.
