2015 Gold Rush Giant Slalom Results and a few pic's

Back from a great weekend in Sacramento, staying at Shannon and Jamie Hart's house with Cliff Coleman. Jamie, Cliff and I have been skateboarding together for almost 40 years. We do it for the ourselves not for anything else. Being from NorCal we were not Skateboard Magazine material. Living North of the media is like living on another planet. We laugh we hug and we encourage each other to go fast and have fun. Our boards are high tech our bodies are not. Though I have to say since I have been doing Crossfit for almost 2 years and the past 6 months going 4 days a week I can say I am stronger than I have ever been in my whole life. It helps on the walks up the hill and turns going around the cones. My only regret was not going off the big ramp, otherwise no complaints. I may not be the best skater and never would claim to be. But I can say I have skated competitively longer that any woman skateboarder that I know of.

Thank you Cliff for the women's skateboard history lesson we will be talking more soon. I learned their are a few women never mentioned in the skate history that were from Norcal in the 60's. The SHOF folks only know the SoCal history they don't know about NorCal or other places all over the world that have been as passionate about skateboarding. As mentioned before just because you were never published in a Skateboard Magazine does not mean you are not dedicated to the life long passion and addiction of being a skateboarder.

John DeAndrea Sculpture Casting in Studio

Yesterday we casted Tara in the studio. She had been casted when she was 14 in a full leotard. I had not done a casting since John had his studio above mine at the Sash Mill in Santa Cruz. It was exciting and fun to do it again working with Lorraine, Jesse his long time right hand and Sebastian and Diane. Here are a few images.

Missed the Skateboard Hall of Fame 2015

I'm in Colorado finishing the last details of John DeAndrea's new website and helping on a casting today. I choose not to go to the HOF until I see my friend Cindy Whitehead inducted. I'm not afraid to say it's political just like Skateboarder magazine was back in the day. Not being a negative or a bad egg just telling the facts. I'm proud of Henry Hester and Duane Peters for getting in from the Santa Cruz Skateboard Team as well as all of the other inductees.

Cindy has been skating since the 70's, had "Girl is not a 4 Letter Word" and has been an advocate to helping women in skateboarding for decades and she didn't even make the list. In general, many of the skaters in the 60's and 70's are getting older and several should be inducted per year. I'm glad they are at least picking more than one woman per year as they did in the beginning.

I'm looking forward to assisting John DeAndrea and Lorraine today in a casting of a new piece. Here are a few images of John's museum show we went to after they picked me up at the airport on Thursday and a studio shot.

Work currently at the Denver Art Museum.

The Horse was made by Judith Wagner if you want one yourself she has a mold in Colorado. It is impressive in size and beautiful close up. Below is a photo from her website.

Badass Skate Mom T-shirts in time for Mother's Day

For the Skatemom that likes to skate and have fun. Who says once your a mom you can't have fun. I'm proof. LOL I've been skateboarding for over 40 years. I just added these shirts to my Badassskatemom.com website. Better late then never. These were hot off the press yesterday. They are available here on this shop and I'm going to see if I can put them in a Santa Cruz store this weekend. I'll post later where. Decided to go skate instead my bad. But they are available in Sweden at the Coyote Grind Lounge.
Just ordered this morning 5" tall Mermaid Stickers. I have been getting requests.
