Enough is Enough by Keith Brauneis and CalTrout official-selection-2013 Enough Is Enough is the story of northern California's McCloud River, its fish and its unique impact worldwide on fly fishing. The compelling story, told by three longtime locals who know the river like no others, helps remind us that as anglers, it's our job to respect our history in order to protect our future.

Tonights Opening at the Monterey Bay Aquarium

It was nice to see the big tank open again. The turtles had been eating the tiles. They redid the tank and added more great areas. It will be open to the public tomorrow. Got to go thanks to my mom and her husband Curt Bowman who has been a volunteer since day one and has over 5,000 hours under his belt. An avid diver and local Soquel person. We always enjoy going to these events. Great food and a great feel especially at night.

Santa Cruz Fly Fishing Club trip to Rooster Comb June 2011

Despite the rains over the weekend we had a great time. The main house view. Upstairs four bedrooms, a bathroom and a front porch area with two beds and screen windows. Amazing view to wake up too.Downstairs has a big living area and bed. Bunk house lots of beds and a bathroom. Solar panels off the grid electricity and water.
Fish made you work for it this year.

Duke when you unload make sure your bags and tubes are off the ground or he'll make his mark.

The upper porch Candy Cane room.

Hanging in the old barn.

Fishing at Tule.

Takes an hour to get out so you don't want to get hurt and their is no phone reception.

Boar from the bunk house and cows along Tule.

Main house fireplace and rattle bottle collection.

Turtles at Tule in the paddle boat.

Rooster Comb Ranch Weekend

Paradise in our own backyard. Well not exactly backyard but close enough to get to from Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz Fly Fishing Club getaway weekend at Rooster Comb Ranch. Everything you need. Off the grid solar run 1928 ranch house that sleeps 13 and a bunkhouse that has another batch of beds. Walking distance to creeks and ponds full of life. Horse country, wild flowers, pig, deer, elk and a super nice host Scott who makes sure you are having fun. It takes around an hour and a half off the main road and about 40 water crossing if you are going slow and checking out the scenery like we were going in, must have a four wheel drive vehicle.
We went to two ponds a day, my favorite was Mustang and Thule (dock and lounge on dock, paddle boat). Mustang had a hammock under the trees, picnic table in the shade, lounge chair, BBQ all right on the shore. Each spot has it's own unique beauty and is worth a look or a cast.
