I guess this is the original plastic bag video.

SURFRIDER FOUNDATION SANTA CRUZ CHAPTER INVITES YOU TO SEE

"BAG IT" AT THE RIO THEATRE, AUGUST 26, 7 PM

1205 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz

We will screen "BAG IT" at the Rio Theatre on 8/26. We have the venue from 6:00 to 10:00 PM, with a 7:00PM showtime.

Entry donation requested.

WE THINK EVERYONE IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SHOULD SEE THIS FILM! WHY, YOU ASK?
SIMPLY BECAUSE A BAN ON SINGLE--USE PLASTIC BAGS IS HEADING YOUR WAY.

IF YOU STILL WANT TO KNOW WHY, CHECK OUT THIS FILM!

So, here's a real timely movie that if you're an enviro-conscious type, you really want to see. HELLO SANTA CRUZ! THIS MEANS YOU! You don't want to miss this one!

You all must be aware that the idea of banning or reducing the constant use of "disposable" or single-use plastic bags is rapidly gaining momentum in our society: Not only in Santa Cruz County, but in many California jurisdictions and around the world, too! See, this total waste of resources and threat to our environment is not limited to our Monterey Bay shores, but it a HUGE problem and INCREASINGLY VISIBLE around the globe!

If you want to see why it's such a big deal and getting bigger, plan to join us at this local screening of "BAG IT" at the Rio on Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz on Thursday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Learn the ugly truth about all those "disposal" plastic bags we have all around us. Do they really get "recycled?"? Well, do they? You think?

AND HEY! HERE'S A SWEET DEAL FOR YOU! WE'RE GONNA "WALK THE TALK" on the 26th. Yep, here's the thing: YOU bring 20 single-use thin plastic bags to SURFRIDER at the Surfrider table in the lobby, and we'll TRADE YOU FOR A REUSEABLE SHOPPING BAG!
(probably a cool Chico Bag)....

Surfrider, Santa Cruz, wants you to get used to the idea: Ditch the filmy-single-use bags and get in the habit of ALWAYS carrying your very own reuseable bag whenever you go shopping. Not just grocery shopping, BTW--We mean any time you shop: retail shops, farmer's markets, whatever...

Yes, you're right: This is right in line with what we're trying to do on the local level and state level, which is to reduce the number of these problematic items that clog our landfills, trash our neighborhoods, and threaten our wildlife on land and sea. This film will help you visualize the issue, for sure.

BTW, "Bag It" is on tour, so be sure to catch it while its in town...

And to get your opinion on record with your local California state decision-maker regarding AB1998 aimed at reducing the casual use of plastic bags at the state level: go to the Surfrider Action Network at: SURFRIDER ACTION NETWORK and get active! Surfrider is supporting this bill in the state Assembly and Senate, so, please, STAND UP WITH SURFRIDER on this issue!

Meanwhile, plan to catch "BAG IT" on the 26th at the Rio!

And, please, please, please, spread word of this screening around. It shows one time only!
