It's not Monsters vs Aliens it's the management

We saw the movie on Friday with the kids and our neighbor and their kids. The little ones got scared and had to leave with their parents mid way through. The manager at the Green Valley Cinema 8 was kind enough to give them passes to come back again. Now that is very cool. We had to leave before the last 10 minutes or Ironman on Mother's Day last year as well and he let us come back weeks later to watch the end. It is the kindness of folks at these local places that really make you feel proud. Small towns are a good thing. Nice people deserve some kudo's. Oh, and the movie was good as well even though they didn't have the 3D thing going on. The kids didn't miss it a bit.

CalRepShows year 23! NorCal ahead of it's time

CalRepShow's is live. This show has been going on for over 23 years and is locally based in Santa Cruz. The next show is "Holiday '09" May 12 & 13, 2009. We will be updating links to vendors and reps that attend the show.
The images will be cycling the imagery on a regular basis. Please email john@calrepshows.com or judi@maximumimpactdesign.com to be added to the links page or included into our slide show sequence. Spring Cleaning old surfboard airbrush Print Mag

I was cleaning some stuff out and came across a 1985 Print Magazine Annual that had this airbrush I did for Russell Leong. I also had the pencil drawing that he had given me. As I recall he was with me when we airbrushed and picked the colors...fun project. He was my mentor coming out of SJSU and the person that encouraged me to start my own business. Novak was the man that kept me on track as well.

Never thought I'd be so happy to see this

After 40 years of getting woken up to loud music from people picking up their mail at all hours, less than a week ago another 3:00 am driver blasting their radio and getting the mail, cars driving up the wrong side of the road, cars driving on our front yard plants, they are going to move the 8 mail boxes where they should of been placed 40+ years ago. Oh joy. All the neighbors are over joyed and are looking forward to the boxes moving. Thank you the the Aptos Postmaster for listening and getting things done.

Networking, meeting new people, finding old friends, and being open to new ways of thinking are all good things. Seems like more of my friends are thinking of ways to make things happen for themselves. Collaborating with folks to create a product, develop a website, do work for a non-profit, looking for the long term goal and not the short pay out.

New Santa Cruz Boardroom in on 41 st. It was great to see the old Look Snowboard I designed back in the day on the ceiling. Michael "Smiley" Goldman's leathers, Bob Denike's downhill helmet from the Capitola Classic and Laguna Seca days. Skated with my friend Jamie Hart who is the skater on Jim Phillips poster design for both the Catalina Classic and Capitola Classic. Which are now collectors and the graphic is on a current Santa Cruz longboard complete.

Capitola and artist James Jean

So great to see illustrator James Jean get a huge mention from Lance today on twitter for his Livestrong chalk art drawing. Very cool. I had the chance to work with James a few years ago. Of course the first year Lance was not riding. Got some amazing images for the Giro bike catalog. The bottom image is from a shoot on the beach in Capitola on the wall the other is taken in between the buildings at Venetain Hotel. Photos by BK.
